Oak Hill Union Local School District held its 16th Annual Senior-Senior Prom on Saturday evening, April 26, 2014. The Senior Citizens of the Oak Hill and surrounding area get to enjoy the prom atmosphere with music and refreshments just prior to the Oak Hill High School Jr.-Sr. Prom. Hostess Nancy Cherrington opened with a welcome and invocation by Erv Cherrington.
At its October 2013 meeting, the Oak Hill Union Local Board of Education recognized Marsha McCorkle as OSBA's "Outstanding Volunteer" for her efforts with the Growing Oaks Program. Pictured are Mrs. McCorkle (front center) and board members (L-R) Aaron Michael, Paula Stewart, Mike French, Joe Elcess, and Regina Boggs who showed their support for the Growing Oaks Program by each donating $100 to help the children of our district.
Oak Hill Schools retired teacher Marsha McCorkle (center) was presented an Outstanding Volunteer award on September 26, 2013 by the Ohio School Boards Association for her work with the Growing Oaks Food Program operating at Oak Hill Elementary School. In September of 2012, Mrs. McCorkle presented the new program to the Board of Education, at which time a resolution was adopted to work cooperatively with Growing Oaks to provide services to our children. With assistance from individuals, community and church groups, Growing Oaks collects food to be sent home in "backpacks" once a month for children in need. The Oak Hill Union Local School District is very appreciative of Marsha McCorkle's efforts, as well as our community's support for this valuable program, and feels she is very deserving of the OSBA Award.
