2017 Ohio University (Athens) Law Institute

July 9 - 21, 2017


Students participating in the Summer Law & Trial Institute will live in Ohio University’s residence halls, have daily interactions with lawyers, judges, and Ohio University faculty, and develop knowledge and skills that will prepare them for collegiate study.

Preference will be given to high achieving, rising high school juniors, seniors from Southeast Ohio, though outstanding sophomores and high school students outside Southeast Ohio will be considered if space permits. Space is limited.

  1. An official high school transcript reflecting a 3.0 or higher GPA (If you do not meet the 3.0 GPA requirement, please submit a 250-to 500-word essay explaining why you are a good candidate for the program and why your grades are not an accurate reflection of your ability.)
  2. An essay (250 to 500 words) that highlights why you are interested in law and why you are interested in attending the Summer Law & Trial Institute
  3. One letter of recommendation from a high school counselor, teacher, coach, clergy, or other non-family member
