URG District Counselor Scholarship
Four-Year Full Tuition Scholarship!
To be eligible, applicants must:
- ✓ Be ACCEPTED to the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year
- ✓ Attend a high school in the four county service district of Gallia, Jackson, Meigs, or Vinton (including Buckeye Hills Career Center)
- ✓ Reside in the four county service district of Gallia, Jackson, Meigs, or Vinton ✓ Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and a minimum ACT Composite score of 21. Superscore will not be accepted. ACT must be taken prior to application deadline.
- Before submitting your application, prepare the following documents that will be required:
- ✓ High school transcript and ACT Composite Score. Superscore will not be accepted. ACT must be taken prior to application deadline. (If transcript with ACT Composite Score has already been submitted by your guidance counselor, no additional copy is needed)
- ✓ Resume, in correct resume format, listing scholastic achievements, school and community involvement, and/or employment history
- ✓ Two (2) letters of recommendation (do not include guidance counselors)
- ✓ Essay – Choosing one of the topics below, essay must be a maximum of two (2) typed, double spaced pages, 12-point font.
- Topic 1: What does leadership mean to you? Describe areas in your life where you demonstrated leadership and overcame obstacles either through your school, social, or family life.
- Topic 2: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela. Describe how you plan to use your education to make a change in the world. Tell us about how you would plan to make that change, and what obstacles you might encounter along the way.
