Congratulations to OHES 4th graders Matthew Boggs (L) for achieving 50 miles walked and Chloe Burchett (R) for achieving 75 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club. Matthew earned a water bottle and Chloe earned a new watch for their efforts. Great job, students! The 2019 OHES Souper Bowl Food Drive for the Growing Oaks Food Program and the Oak Hill Food Pantry was conducted, and the students and staff collected 3,020 food items for donation. The winning class with the largest donation was Philip Malone's 5th grade class, and they won a donut party for their efforts.
The Active Acorns Winter Team had their first meeting with Krav Maga instructor Scott King as first guest. The students learned about self defense, especially that the best defense is to not to be in the situation at all! Scott has visited the Acorns six times now, and his presentations get more hands-on and more informative each time. Congratulations to two OHES students for achievements in the Walking Oaks Club. Fifth grader Ashton Sturgill (L) has again achieved 100 miles walked and earned a pedometer and new watch. Third grader Bentley Hamilton (R) achieved 25 miles walked and earned the club t-shirt. Great job, students! Congratulations to Lady Oaks Coach Doug Hale on reaching the 500-victory plateau on January 17, 2019 against the Minford Falcons. The victory mark is a combination of both Girls and Boys wins in his great tenure as Coach at Oak Hill High School.
The Active Acorns Fall Team had its final meeting for 2018. The 36 members enjoyed a variety of physical activities during the meeting, ones that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. In January, the Active Acorns Winter Session begins, but the Fall Team members will participate in the Spring field trip and parents’ night activities as well. December 2018
