At the October 23rd Active Acorns meeting, Paramedic Ryan Foster from the Jackson County EMS visited and taught the students about basic first aid, the Heimlich Maneuver, AED use, and CPR. The students did hands-on training and also got to tour the squad. Ryan did a fantastic job and provided very useful information. The Fall 2019 Active Acorns welcomed Dawn Richards from SOMC’s Community Health Department. Dawn has been coming to the Active Acorn Meetings for 5 years now, and the students always enjoy her informative and entertaining activities. At this meeting, the Acorns learned the importance of stretching and exercising, especially after extended time using electronics.
