Mr. Randy Layton, Principal of Oak Hill High School, has announced the honor graduates for the Class of 2019. The valedictorians of this year’s graduating class are Ms. Katie Johnson, Ms. Tomi Kelly, Ms. Baleigh McNerlin, and the salutatorian is Mr. Noah Cooper. Oak Hill Seniors graduated on Friday, May 17th.
Pictured is everybody that won at least one event in the Jackson/Vinton County Meet. Oak Hill girls included Macy Mullett (front row) winning the 400 and Peyton Miller (second row) was high point winner. Peyton won 4 events: High Jump, 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, and Long Jump. Oak Hill boys Cameron Kerns, Jacob Turner, Michael Caldwell, and Luke Stewart won the 4x100 (all four are in the back right of the photo). Click image for larger view. April 2019
The 5th annual Active Acorns Parents Night was held April 10th, 2019. Thirty four adults, in addition to the club members, attended. Dawn Richards RN, from the SOMC Community Wellness Department, spoke to the group about healthy choices, wellness, social media safety, and bully prevention. Door prizes were given out, as well as many informative handouts. This was the 7th edition of the Active Acorns, and the club is sponsored by the Jackson County Health Department, Holzer Health Systems, and Atomic Employees Credit Union.
Senior members of the National Honor Society were given their graduation stoles for completing membership requirements in the National Honor Society. Oak Hill Union Local Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Oak Hill joins 623 districts across the country in receiving the prestigious award in 2019. This is the fourth consecutive year Oak Hill has been recognized for demonstrating outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
The 2018-2019 OHES Active Acorns Fitness Club had their field trip to Southern Ohio Gymnastics Academy. The 71 members enjoyed the various activities and equipment the facility offers. The Active Acorns Fitness Club is sponsored by the Jackson County Health Department, Holzer Health Systems, and Atomic Employees Credit Union. Click image for larger view. March 2019
