disney band1 15A proud and excited contingent of more than 100 Oak Hill High School students headed south to visit and perform at the world-famous Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.

According to Oak Hill Middle/High School Director of Bands and Choirs Bryce Werntz, the trip was November 20 through November 25, with the Oak Hill High Marching Oaks Band, Concert Choir, and Cheerleaders all participating and performing.

The Marching Oaks and the OHHS Cheerleaders performed in what is considered the top location at Walt Disney World as both groups marched November 23, at the Magic Kingdom Park down "Main Street USA," which is the main walkway just inside the front of the park.

The Marching Oaks and Cheerleaders had the honor of kicking off the new "Festival of Fantasy Parade." Director Werntz reports the band played the OHHS Fight Song Stand Up and Cheer and also Disney's "Magical Marches," which included the Mickey Mouse March, Supercalifragalisticespaliodous, and Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. The band's third song was The Star Wars Theme.

Meanwhile, the Oak Hill High School Choir was accepted to sing at the newly renovated Disney Springs Waterfront Stage in the Downtown Disney District. The choir's concert was November 22. The OHHS students sang Africa, The Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, Under the Sea, Disney Movie Ballads, and Colors of the Wind.

The OHHS contingent combined some pleasure with its important business. The trip included stops at Daytona Beach with impromptu performances on The Boardwalk, and Walt Disney World Resort parks, including Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom and also a visit to Disney Springs. The last day of the trip featured a trip to Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios, and the Islands of Adventure before the Oaks headed home in time to be able to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families.      November 2015
