Autism Awareness Donation
Oak Hill Elementary would like to thank Jackson Walmart associates for their donation. The money was raised during the Autism Awareness event which was held at our local Jackson Walmart. Family Night Event
The 2017-2018 edition of the Active Acorns concluded their year with a joint event with the OAKS Afterschool Program, which featured Southern Ohio Medical Center’s Community Wellness Nurse Dawn Richards, RN. Forty parents and over 100 students attended the event which focused on healthier eating, physical activity, and relaxation techniques for students and their families. Door prizes and snacks were provided, and afterwards, a vendor fair was available from local community providers. April 2018
Active Acorns Meet
The OHES Active Acorns welcomed Carina Dickens from the OSU Extension Center to its meeting. Carina discussed healthy snacks ideas, with the students doing a variety of physical activities to reinforce her key lesson points. The Acorns enjoyed her presentation very much April 2018
100-Mile Walker
Congratulations to 4th grader Ashton Sturgill who has achieved 100 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club. This is the second year in a row he has achieved this milestone. He will be honored at an upcoming Board Meeting for his efforts. Great job, Ashton! April 2018
Walking Oaks Milestones
Congratulations to 3rd graders Alexis Davis, Gracie Evans, and Chloe Burchett for achieving 25 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club and earning the club t-shirt. Third grader Matthew Boggs achieved 50 miles walked and earned a pedometer. Great job, students! April 2018
Active Acorns Field Trip
The Active Acorns Fitness Club had its annual field trip to Southern Ohio Gymnastics Academy in Gallipolis. The 75 students in grades 3-5 enjoyed the experience very much. The Active Acorns Fitness Club is sponsored by Southern Ohio Medical Center and Holzer Health Systems. March 2018
