Two-Millionaire Reader

Breakfast Blitz Grant

 

futp60 logoOak Hill Elementary FUTP60 Program Advisor Alicia Lloyd was notified that OHES received a $1000 Breakfast Blitz grant from the Got Milk? and Fuel Up to Play 60 programs.  With more than 80,00 votes cast for over 11,400 schools, this campaign directed a total of $250,000 in grants nationwide to support school breakfast programs.  As a result of Oak Hill Elementary School's effort, it was one of only 250 schools to receive a Breakfast Blitz grant that will be used to purchase healthy breakfast items.

FUTP60 Kick-Off

futp 9 13OHES had its 4th annual FUTP60 Kick-Off on Friday September 6, 2013.  Students were encouraged to wear a shirt of their favorite football team, as well as bring in cans of soup to donate to the Growing Oaks Food Program.  A total of 787 cans were collected.  The class with the most cans donated was Mrs. Bartels' 3rd grade class with 66 cans collected. 

Individual winners were randomly selected by a drawing, and the winners were (Front L-R) Mason Hunter, Andy Meldick, Grady Massie, and Cameron Carter. (Back L-R) Hannah Richards, Gideon Lyall-Wolford, Nate Clutters, Alexcis Duhl, Ani Canter, Rachel Puckett, and Morgan Kearns.  Staff winners were Angie Hilderbrant, Heather Kilgour, and Susan Michael.

OAA Perfect Scores

Growing Oaks Food Program

 

growingoakstreeOaks United Inc. is a local non-profit organization that provides charitable relief to individuals in the Oak Hill Area.  Their first endeavor is the Growing Oaks Food Program, which provides food assistance to Oak Hill Elementary kids in need.  Food bags are provided monthly and prior to school breaks.  All money collected is spent on the purchase of food items, with special donors covering necessary operating expenses.

Box Tops for Education
