2024 Jackson County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship

In order to help young people, continue their efforts toward becoming self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society, the Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association (JCCA) has established a scholarship, which will be awarded to a deserving young adult. This $500 scholarship is available to a minimum of one Jackson County student who is a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled college student. Previous scholarship winners are not eligible

Criteria for Basis of Award:

The following consideration will be given in the selection of a scholarship recipient:

  1. He/She should have a 2.5 cumulative GPA in high school or college.
  2. Consideration will be given toward the participation of the student in civic and co-curricular activities.
  3. Students should demonstrate an agricultural background and/or involvement in 4-H and/or FFA.
  4. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree of an Agricultural nature. 

Applicants for a scholarship must complete and submit to the JCCA Board of Directors:

  1. Completed scholarship application form, typed or legibly printed in black ink
  2. One portrait in the space provided on the application form.
  3. One official transcript of grades
  4. A letter of recommendation

Scholarship Deadline: Application packets must be postmarked on or before May 1, 2024.

Scholarships will be presented at the 2024 Jackson County Fair, recipients will be notified of day and time to attend. Winning recipients will receive their Scholarship check after proof is provided to the association of successful completion of their first semester of higher education.

Scholarship Eligibility:  Any interested OHHS graduating senior that has been accepted to an accredited 2-year or 4-year college/university or technical school for the fall of 2024.

G.R.I.T. Scholarship

2024 G.R.I.T. Scholarship

Greatness. Resilience. Integrity. Trust.

One Time Cash Scholarship of $500.00

Taylor Hale is a 2012 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She stood alongside other members of her class as a Class Valedictorian. Taylor attended Ohio University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduating with her bachelors, the small town girl moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2016. She began working as a Registered Nurse at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. She has cared for people of all ages, race, and socioeconomic backgrounds during some of their worst days. Taylor took pride in showing G.R.I.T. while caring for oncology patients and families. Although, the acronym was formed as she watched oncology patients show G.R.I.T. fighting their own battle every twelve hour shift. Today, Taylor has her Masters of Science of Nursing from The Ohio State University. She is currently searching for her own personal Superbowl, as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She currently resides in Columbus, OH with her pup, Harvey. Go Bucks!

To be considered to become a G.R.I.T. Scholar:

  • Must be a graduating OHHS senior
  • Provide a short answer response to the prompt below. No specific work count is required. Response should be typed and delivered to Karen Spees. 
  • Demonstrate G.R.I.T. by providing 1 reference letter (teacher, principal or community member). 
  • Reference should be in a sealed envelope and delivered to the OHHS office of Karen Spees or mailed to Oak Hill High School, ATT: Karen Spees, 5063 State Route 93, Oak Hill, Ohio, 45656

LeGrand Scholarship

2024 Eileen LeGrand Memorial Scholarship

$500 One-time Award

Requirements from the Applicant:

  • You must rank in the upper 1/2 of the graduating class to apply.
  • The application must be properly completed in ink or typed. No Pencil!
  • A letter of recommendation from a community leader, pastor, youth leader or employer known personally by the applicant. They cannot be a school employee.
  • A 500 word or less essay on why the applicant feel he/she is deserving of this scholarship (include future goals). Essay must be typed!

OH Music Boosters Scholarship

2024 Oak Hill Music Boosters Band and Choir Scholarships

One-time Award to one band and one choir student

Cash Award of $250

Award Type: Scholarship must be paid to an institution of higher learning. The scholarship will be paid upon presentation of proof of enrollment as a full-time student at an institution of higher learning. Proof of enrollment must be presented to the band or choir director or Oak Hill Music Booster officer.
