Active Acorns Concludes

active acornMay15The 2014-2015 edition of the Active Acorns Fitness Club had its last meeting on May 6. These 31 students from grades 3-5 spent the year learning about the importance of health and wellness. Members enjoyed a pizza party at the last meeting and also had a prize drawing for a variety of items. Special thanks to Oak Hill McDonald's, Oak Hill Subway, and Coach Norm Persin for donating items for the students to win.  Click for larger view.

75-Mile Achievement

15 natalie 75Congratulations to 5th grade student Natalie Krannitz for achieving 75 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club. For her achievement, she earned a new water bottle.

125-Mile Achievement

15 borghese 12515 weese 125Congratulations to 5th grade students Makayla Borghese (L) and Alexis Weese (R) who, since beginning the Walking Oaks Club in September, have walked 125 total miles at recess. For their achievements, they received free item certificates from the Oak Hill McDonald's and new water bottles. They will also receive a special gift for their achievement at the upcoming OHES Awards Ceremony. Great job, Makayla and Alexis!

SOMC Visits Active Acorns

15 somc acornsSouthern Ohio Medical Center's Community Wellness nurse Dawn Richards, RN, visited the Oak Hill Elementary's Active Acorn Fitness Club's April 22 meeting. Her lesson "Stress Less" focused on stress management techniques for students. She also gave the Acorns tips on bully prevention and cyber safety. The students enjoyed her lessons, as well as the physical activities she had them do. Click for larger view.

25-Mile Walker

15 catteeCongratulations to 3rd grade student Chelsea Cattee, who achieved 25 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club. She received the club t-shirt for her efforts.
