Third graders Stella Lester and Ryleigh Little have walked 25 miles and earned their Club t-shirts. Third grader Zach Swann and fifth graders Charissa Krannitz and Chloe Burchett have reached 50 miles walked and earned Club water bottles and pencils. Active Acorns

AAC2 23oct19At the October 23rd Active Acorns meeting, Paramedic Ryan Foster from the Jackson County EMS visited and taught the students about basic first aid, the Heimlich Maneuver, AED use, and CPR. The students did hands-on training and also got to tour the squad. Ryan did a fantastic job and provided very useful information. The Active Acorns Club is sponsored by Holzer Health Systems and the Jackson County Health Department.

100-Mile Walker

zfrench 100 oct19Oak Hill Elementary Fifth Grader Zoey French has been very motivated. She has already reached 100 miles walked in the 2019-2020 OHES Walking Oaks Club. For reaching 50 miles, she earned a water bottle, and for 75 miles, she earned a gift card. For the 100 mile achievement, she has earned a fanny pack and bracelet. Her goal is to reach or exceed 500 miles walked by the end of the school year. The Walking Oaks is sponsored by Holzer Health Systems and the Jackson County Health Department.     October 2019

Active Acorns

AAC 3oct19The Fall 2019 Active Acorns welcomed Dawn Richards from SOMC’s Community Health Department. Dawn has been coming to the Active Acorn Meetings for 5 years now, and the students always enjoy her informative and entertaining activities. At this meeting, the Acorns learned the importance of stretching and exercising, especially after extended time using electronics.
